Privacy on Social Media

The Data Use Policy for Facebook goes over all the information that you a user gives when they sign up and the information that Facebook receives from you while you're using the site for example, Facebook receives data whenever a user visits a game, application, or website with a Facebook feature. The good thing about Facebook is for the most part, the users control how much information is publicly displayed and what they want to display for which people. You can pretty much customize you page to be as pubic or as private as you'd like. The Data Use Policy goes over how they use the information they collect to protect Facebook and other user's rights, to make suggestions based on things you like or people you may know, and also for troubleshooting and data analysis on the website's features.

I tried to find information in Facebook's policies regarding a security breach but either they don't mention it, which I find hard to believe, or I just couldn't find it. Instead I went to the terms for Instagram and their policy states that when you join Instagram you acknowledge that your information may not be secure and that you understand the internet may or may not have breaches of security. Instagram also has a Limitation of Liability section which explains Instagram will not be liable for any damage caused by a security breach.
